Customer Challenge

Early stage sustainability startup in the ideation stage was looking to translate their vision of a smart water metering solution to reality.
The aim of the smart water meter system was to help residential and commercial complexes monitor and reduce water usage.

The system would need to measure water at every inlet. Ease of retrofitting the solution in existing buildings was another key requirement.

Another requirement was to value engineer this to an affordable India price point.
International solutions available in the market were expensive, bulky and difficult to retrofit.

Denvik’s approach

Requirements Gathering : The Denvik team first analyzed requirements in detail to understand existing market solutions, water metering challenges and setup and installation processes currently used.
Desired target price points and Connectivity requirements were also discussed (example if data was to reside on the cloud, mobile app requirements).

Creation of Proof of Concept (POC): The team came up with a potential solution design with all the desired functionality at the desired target price points.
The design also allowed for a ease of installation in existing buildings as well as new buildings. The POC leapfrogged all other available market solutions.

Testing, Validation & Launch: The proposed solution design was first implemented as a test in a lresidential apartment complex in south India.
The solution was monitored for a period of 3 months and it performed remarkbly well with no issues.
The building was able to reduce water usage by almost 40% with our solution.
With this initial success, the sustainability startup then offering the designed solution to more customers.

Results/Impact

The product designed by the Denvik team was a resounding success.
The designed solution has been implemented in 30000+ residential homes and 40 million+ sqaure feet of commercial space in India.

The solution designed by Denvik has helped decrease water usage by 30% to 50% after installation.

The sustainability startup has become on leading providers of IoT driven smart water metering solutions in India.
They have raised investments from marquee investors and have won several startup awards in India.
